研究領域摘要:

(1) 無線感測網路 (Sensor Networks): 早在90年代末期,黃教授即致力於推動可穿戴式(Wearable)、感測微電腦網路(Device/Sensor Network)之前瞻研究。對這些新興領域所發表的看法與願景,曾獲得IS2000最佳論文獎(Best Paper Award)肯定。近年來,黃教授團隊於感測網路方面的研究除了基礎軟、硬體技術的開發,並將重心推往應用導向的跨層最佳化,強調系統之可靠與續航性。黃教授團隊於台灣大學電機系博理館中佈建,做為電梯動態監測、遠端生理參數監測、室內定位用之感測網路,已臻成熟。近年更將應用觸角延伸到健康照護體系,完成台大醫院北護分院長期安養病房的即時病患安全系統佈建(約使用了將近50個感測網路節點)並持續運作收集資料超過一年,為國內外少見能穩定提供實際智慧生活需求之實體感測網路。從實驗室網站可以下載個實體系統的簡介影片:http://nslab.ee.ntu.edu.tw/demo/{BL-elevator.avi, BL-uhealth.wmv, BeiHu-long.mp4}。黃教授研究內容理論與實務並重。近年的論文作品為無線感測網路領域最頂尖的研討會ACM Sensys(接受率約16%)及行動通訊領域最頂尖的期刊IEEE Transaction on Mobile Computing(IF=3.034, Rank in Telecom 2/59=3.39%)所接受更連續獲邀在ACM Sensys 2007, 2009, 2010擔任TPC委員

(2) 多媒體同儕網路 (P2P Multimedia Networks): 在多媒體同儕網路方面,黃教授團隊與影像編碼專家合作研發出的P2P IPTV系統已經陸續與資策會、工研院、華碩等業界研發團隊合作,研發結果深獲經濟部專家審查小組好評並榮獲創新技術大獎,系統實作亦經由合作夥伴成功技轉。未來在廣域無線網路如WiMAX佈建完成後,該系統的發展潛力無限。黃教授團隊在多媒體P2P上的研究也極順利的於WWW 2006中極受矚目之IPTV Workshop以及在多媒體領域高Impact的IEEE Transactions on Multimedia發表,並獲得該期刊最佳論文提名(當年度最佳論文從缺)。黃教授更在今年受邀擔任ACM Multimedia 2010這個多媒體領域最重要會議(接受率約15%)的TPC Co-Chair。

(3) 網際網路特徵分析 (Internet Measurement and Analysis): 在網際網路特徵分析方面,黃教授團隊近年來在線上遊戲(Online Games)與網路語音(Skype)的研究成果,更多次發表於頂尖國際研討會與期刊。黃教授團隊在線上角色扮演遊戲(MMORPG)之研究領先全球,一個針對網路狀況與玩家上線時間迷思的分析,並獲通訊網路研究中極具指標意義之IEEE Infocom 2006接受 。最讓人振奮的是,黃教授針對Skype通話時間與網路狀態的關聯性分析,為網路領域最頂尖的研討會ACM SIGCOMM 2006(接受率約11%)與IEEE INFOCOM 2009(接受率約20%)所接受。這個研究也將在今年3月登上IEEE Network。在SIGCOMM這個歷史悠久、衍生出多個網際網路協定標準的重要會議中,這是近十幾年來空前,目前也是絕後,唯一來自台灣團隊的著作。短短時間累積Google Scholar Citation數量已達85次。在網路系統領域中,與國際頂尖學校的作品接軌,毫不遜色。

(4) 學術教育 (Academic Mentoring)黃教授除了在CS範疇十分重要的會議中持續耕耘,提升國際能見度,同時又能兼顧SCI論文品質,在年輕的教授中已不多得。黃教授更重視人才培育,短短四年間多位學生選擇於國內外如中研院 (Kuan-Ta Chen, Assistant Research Fellow)、Stanford University (Te-Yuan Huang, PhD Student)、Harvard University (Tsung-Han Lin, PhD Student)、University of Southern California (Hsing-Hau Chen, PhD Student)、University of Michigan (Yi-Chin Wu, PhD Student)等學研單位繼續發展屬於他們自己的學術生涯。
