Chih-Wen Liu (劉志文) He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University in 1987 and the M.S. and Ph.D degrees from Cornell University in 1992 and 1994. He was a Chairman of Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University from 2016 to 2019. Currently, he is a Distinguished Professor of National Taiwan University, and director of Green Electric Energy Research Center. His research areas are in smart grids, electric machines and magnetic field guided endoscope.
He receives Outstanding Young Electrical Engineer Award from the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering, in 2001(中國電機工程學會「優秀青年電機工程師獎」), the Best Paper Award from the Chinese Institute of Engineers in 2002(中國工程師學會「詹天佑論文獎章」), the Prize Paper Award from IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exhibition in 2002, Research Contribution Award from National Taiwan University in 2004(國立台灣大學「研究貢獻獎」), the First Class Principal Investigator Award from National Science Council in 2005(國科會「第一級研究計畫主持人獎」), the Distinguished Research Award from the National Science Council in 2008 , (國科會 [傑出研究獎])。and Academics Contribution Award from the college of EECS of National Taiwan University in 2013 (國立台灣大學電機資訊學院『學術貢獻獎』), Outstanding Electrical Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering in 2014(中國電機工程學會 [傑出電機工程教授獎]),and the Distinguished Research Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2018, (科技部 [傑出研究獎])。He is a distinguished research fellow of the National Science and Technology Council in 2020(國科會特約研究人員). He is a Fellow of the IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, 國際電機電子工程學會會士).
